Examination & Assessment

At Omni International School, Basti, we follow a comprehensive assessment system in line with the CBSE guidelines, designed to evaluate students’ academic performance and overall development throughout the academic year. Our assessment framework ensures that students are evaluated fairly and consistently, with a focus on their continuous improvement and holistic growth.

Assessment Structure

We implement the following exam structure across all grades:

Periodic Test 1 (PT 1)

A formative assessment conducted at the beginning of the academic year to gauge the initial understanding of core subjects.

Half-Yearly (HY)

Conducted mid-year, this examination assesses students’ grasp of the syllabus covered during the first half of the academic session.

Periodic Test 2 (PT 2)

Another formative assessment held in the second term to measure progress and readiness for the annual examinations.

Annual Examination

A comprehensive examination covering the entire syllabus, conducted at the end of the academic year.

In addition to these major exams, class tests are conducted regularly to monitor students' progress and ensure continuous evaluation. These smaller, frequent assessments provide immediate feedback to both students and teachers, helping identify areas that need additional attention. Grade 9 to 12: Pre-Board Examinations and Practical for Best Results For Grades 9 to 12, we follow an enhanced and focused assessment structure to ensure our students are well-prepared for their board exams. The examination and assessment approach in these crucial years includes:

Pre-Board Examinations

In Grades 10 and 12, we conduct pre-board exams designed to simulate the final CBSE board examinations. These exams help students gauge their preparedness, practice time management, and refine their exam techniques. Pre-boards are a critical part of our strategy to ensure students are fully confident and ready to achieve their best possible results in the actual board exams.

Practical Examinations

Practical exams are conducted in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, and other subjects where hands-on experience is essential. These practical are an integral component of the final evaluation for Grades 9 to 12 and align with CBSE’s guidelines. Students are assessed on their practical skills, experiment performance, and ability to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. This helps ensure comprehensive understanding and mastery of subjects.

Both pre-board and practical assessments are vital for reinforcing theoretical knowledge and preparing students for the rigorous demands of board examinations, ultimately aiming for outstanding results.

National Education Policy (NEP)

Aligned with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 As part of our commitment to adopting the reforms outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, we focus not only on academic performance but also on the holistic development of our students. NEP 2020 emphasizes competency-based learning, which promotes the application of knowledge rather than rote memorization. Our assessment methods, therefore, include:

  • Formative Assessments: These are used to assess not just knowledge retention but also critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration. We emphasize continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) to provide a more complete picture of a student's abilities.
  • Skill-Based Assessment: In line with NEP 2020’s vision, we encourage students to demonstrate practical applications of their learning through projects, presentations, and group activities.
  • Personalized Learning Feedback: Our assessment system also focuses on providing personalized feedback that supports individual learning styles and paces, helping students grow academically and personally.
  • Incorporating Life Skills and Co-Curricular Activities: Under NEP’s guidelines, we include co-curricular activities, life skills, and sports performance as integral parts of our assessment system. This ensures that students are not only evaluated academically but are also recognized for their overall character development and practical competencies.

By integrating pre-board exams and practical assessments into the evaluation system for Grades 9 to 12, we provide students with the best preparation possible for their CBSE board exams, ensuring both theoretical excellence and practical application.
